Best Heal Care Companies To Buy For 2014

Every year, thousands of investors flock to Omaha to hear the wisdom of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. For as long as six hours, with only one break for lunch, the two business legends take questions from investors, the press, and analysts. Appropriately for a shareholders meeting, the focus is the business of Berkshire Hathaway (ticker: BRK.A), but it's not the only topic they discuss.

This year, a young shareholder from New Jersey asked for advice on entrepreneurship. Below are my notes on the shareholder's question, along with responses from Buffett and Munger.

Shareholder: Being a young person without an ability to code or build robots, I don't know technology. If you were 23 years old, what non-tech industry would you start a business in?

Buffett: I'd probably do just what I did at 23. I would go into the investment business and I would look at lots of companies, talk to lots of people, and learn what I could about different industries. One thing I did when I was 23: If I got interested in a coal business, I'd go and see the bosses of eight or 10 coal companies. I'd ask a lot of questions.

Well, I hate to be the one to say I told you so, but, I told you so. Back on December 11th I said it was time to take a swing on LiveDeal Inc. (NASDAQ:LIVE). The company was causing quite a stir within the investment community, and shares of LIVE were getting more and more bullish traction. All told, LiveDeal shares are up 119% since the look I took less than a month ago, coming out of nowhere, and surprising a lot of people.

To be completely fair, investors and consumers alike may understandably roll their eyes regarding any news from, or about, any online-coupon "daily deals" site. We've been down that road before, with names like Groupon Inc. (NASDAQ:GRPN) and LivingSocial. While both sites were interesting and had their day in the sun, it didn't take long for either to lose their luster. And for GRPN, it didn't take long for its early investors to lose a lot of their money. The daily deals premise never really went away, though. It's just been morphing - and right-sizing - into something that's a win for all the parties involved. That's why Groupon and LivingSocial are still around, even if they're just limping by... the premise itself basically works. What if, however, there was a daily deals site that wasn't too far down the wrong digital-coupon path? Enter LiveDeal Inc. (NASDAQ:LIVE).

Abouta week ago, Wall Street was biting small cap pet stock Petmed Express Inc (NASDAQ: PETS) for not living up to its earnings expectations- meaning it might be worth taking a closer look at the stockand compare its performance with other pet stocks like mid cap PetSmart, Inc (NASDAQ: PETM) and small cap VCA Antech Inc (NASDAQ: WOOF). I should also mention that we have recently added Petmed Express to our SmallCap Network Elite Opportunity (SCN EO) portfolio because we think the stock is undervalued in the pet space and has tremendous growth potentialmoving forward.

    The 10-second takeaway
For the quarter ended June 30 (Q1), PetMed Express beat expectations on revenues and beat expectations on earnings per share.

The most logical choice to invest in a burgeoning and ongoing domestication of our pets is by looking into pet superstores like PetSmart (NASDAQ: PETM  ) . While online companies like PetMed Express (NASDAQ: PETS  ) offer the convenience of ordering medications from the comfort of your home, pets -- like humans -- need personalized care that you usually just can't get from the click of a mouse. This means that PetSmart is bound to stay busy with physical store visits from consumers who want only the best for Fido or their feline. And the proof is certainly in the pudding --PetSmart hasn't delivered an annual revenue decline once over the past decade with total sales up 125% since 2004.
